Pearl Academy of Fashion has dedicated faculty members drawn from Indian and International institutes and industry supplemented by visiting professionals and other acknowledged leaders of the fashion, garment, retail and media industry. The Academy currently has more than 1600 students on its rolls, with a Student: Teacher Ratio of 12:1, which enables us to give close personal attention to each and every student through classroom interaction, mentoring, project guidance, etc.
In addition to our full-time faculty, a large number of guest faculty enrolled on our panel are actively involved in regular teaching.
Ms. Magotra is an Associate Professor and course leader of PG Fashion Design at Pearl Academy of Fashion. She is a graduate from NID, Ahemdabad and has been a faculty at NIFT, Mumbai for two years and a certificate holder in PGCHE, a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from Nottingham Trent University. She builds an easy rapport with her students and enjoys motivating and leading them. She has worked for eight years with buying houses catering to Japanese and French markets. She has designed the uniforms for DPSI and Board of Immigration. and has also done a prestigous project with Indian Wool Secretariat, designing shawls and woollens. Her entry sent to WOW 2008 was selected amongst the best eight from India and was showcased in Newzealand. Many of her works have been exhibited in Samanvaya, an art exhibition by the Faculty of Pearl Academy of Fashion. She has a keen passion for research and photography. She specializes in Design and Fashion, Art & Culture.
Ankur Gulati
Ankur Gulati is an associate professor in Fashion Design programme at Pearl Academy of Fashion, with an experience as a Design Director of a Govt. recognized export house, stylist, fashion columnist and retail visual merchandiser. Initial Design education from Pa-Lin Art School in Singapore and a Design graduate from the first batch of Pearl Academy of Fashion New Delhi.
Ashima Kapoor
Ms. Kapoor, has a B.A (Hons) in History from JMC, after which she did a Diploma in Fashion & Media Make - Up From PAF in association with Developments at London Institute (DALI) at Londoncollege of Fashion. Apart from tutoring at the Pearl Academy of Fashion, she also works as a freelance Make-up artist & Hairstylist. Her work has been featured in many popular magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, FnL to name a few. She has worked with eminent photographers, designers and models in the fashion industry. Her range of work includes editorials, advertising, fashion shows, makeover shows for channels such as NDTV, bridal and special occasions make-up. To add value to her academic qualification, she has done short courses at 'The Session School', London; 'The London Film Academy', London and Masterclass with 'Napolean Perdis' at the International Make-up Artists Trade Show (IMATS), Pasadena, Los Angeles.
Bela Gupta
Bela Gupta is an Assistant Professor and course coordinator in the Fashion Design Department at Pearl Academy of Fashion. She is a Post Graduate in Textiles and Clothing from Delhi University. She has an industrial experience of 16 yrs with her own brand. She has been involved in designing and in production for various retail stores in India and abroad. She has an academic experience of 5 yrs with specialization in Pattern making, Garment Construction, Draping and Grading. Her research interests lies in crafts and has been involved in teaching crafts to Fashion Design students and artisans. She has been involved in social activities related to youth, women and children .
Cora Gotemann
Cora Goetemann is currently a visiting professor and subject leader for fashion design at PAF and has been associated with PAF since 1999.
She is a graduate in fashion design from Germany and obtained an additional MA in adult education.
Prior to coming to India to teach at PAF she has been associated with the European fashion industry and specialized in product design for Sportswear and Casual Menswear in cooperation with European and Asian garment producers.
She is also associated with an EU project in Egypt related to developing curricula and training manuals for the ready-made garment industry.
Darshan Chandekar
Darshan Chandekar, an Asst. Professor in design, fashion design dept. Pearl Academy of Fashion.
He is a science graduate and a NIFT graduate in fashion design.
Working in the industry with crafts, domestic, international brands and designers. He has acquired experience in both niche and commercial design. Worked with luca berti studio, Italy, style shoot for 'diesel ', addict style magazine (addict design lab), trend elephant, Hamburg, Germany, Dionis design studio, Hamburg, Germany, Rohit Bal, Raghvendra Rathor are few to mention.
His areas of interest are design, surface design, painting and creating experiential installations.
As a human being he is concerned about self evolution through meditation and working towards a peaceful society.
Esther Kinder
Ms. Kinder has graduated from VLCC, Lucknow, as a hair styling and makeup professional. She has been trained in advance hairstyling & skin care, art of make-up and brings with her an experience of 8 years working with reputed organizations like Keune and Ayur. She has also trainied aviation students all over India from the institute Flying Cats.
Geetpriya Misra
Currently a visiting professor with Pearl Academy of Fashion, Ms. Geetpriya joined the organization in 1995, while working in the Indian Fashion Design industry as a fashion co-ordinator and a freelance designer. She has a total of 18 years experience which includes academics and industry works. She holds a professional diploma in Fashion design from LIFS now known as The Raffles Design Institute, Singapore.
Jaspal Kalra
Jaspal Kalra is an Assistant Professor with Fashion Design Department of Pearl Academy of Fashion. A qualified designer from NIIFT, Mohali with 11 yrs of industrial experience has closely worked in craft sector under his own brand. The major assignments he has handled in industry are for Freelook, Splash, Tiani Couture (HK) Ltd. Besides designing for retail and export houses he has developed range for international trade fairs and certain celebrities. His strengths are his capacity to analyze and explore concepts, and inspire to do the same. He has worked with some institutes as guest lecturer which molded him to formally move into academics. His strengths are understanding of Patternmaking and Garment construction. Understanding context, optimism and responsibility form wheels of all his endeavors.
Lily Maria Sanyal
Fashion Designer from NIFT, with years of experience in the fashion industry. Specializes in fashion illustration and visualization. 5 years of teaching experience at Pearl Academy Of Fashion in Delhi.
Meha Jayaswal
A Post graduate in Mass Communications from the Centre for Mass Media, New Delhi and an MBA in Media Management, Meha Jayaswal has more than fifteen years of experience in the industry and academics. A fulfilling journey from managing media and trade communications for the International Wool Secretariat, the Confederation of Indian Industry to forging close linkages with country's leading media houses for Pearl Academy of Fashion and its branches. She currently leads modules on Advertising & Promotions, Fashion Critique and manages the Bachelor's in Business Administration programme.
Nien Siao
Presently the HOD Fashion Design at Pearl Academy of Fashion, New Delhi Nien Siao has been associated with Design Academics for last 13 years. She is a graduate in Industrial Design Textiles, from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and has Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education by NTU, U.K. Prior to joining the academics field, she has been associated with the domestic and export textile sectors specializing in fashion fabrics and home fashions spans 7 years prior to joining academics and continues till present. She has worked extensively in the areas of retail fashion, home made ups, carpets, woven textiles, soft toys and craft textiles in India, Nepal and Ethiopia. As a professional trainer she has worked with corporate businesses, craftsmen and entrepreneurs in areas of design, skill, product and strategy development. She is an active member of Textile Institute Forum, UK and continues to be involved in both fashion and textiles related education, research, craft development and sustainable design practice.
Papiya Banerjee
Papiya Banerjee is a Design Graduate from NIFT. She has worked in the American Luxury retail market with buyers like Neiman Marcus, Saks-Fifth-Avenue, Bloomingdales, Cold water creek, Chicos etc for 16 years as the Design Director of Sandy Bear Designs Inc.
Her entrepreneurial consultancy specializes in the export projects dealing with apparels & home furnishings & her area of interest is contemporizing traditional Indian textile crafts through ode an endeavor dedicated to the works of our artisans. Her academic association has been as a guest faculty NIFT 1999 - 2008. Specialization - Design, Illustration, Textiles.
She is an Associate Professor with Pearl Academy of Fashion.
Prasanna Baruah
Prasanna Baruah is an associate professor and course leader of B.A. (Hons) in Fashion Design programme at Pearl Academy of Fashion. He has started his career from garment industry in 1998 and has over 12 years of experience as an academician and a design consultant with renowned national and international organizations. Prasanna Baruah is a graduate in economics from Guwahati University. He is also a post graduate diploma holder in Advanced Fashion Design and Technology from IIFT and a certificate holder in PGCHE, a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from NottinghamTrentUniversity. His research interest involves pedagogic research like syndicate learning in design and drawing classes, design portfolio as a cohesive tool for students\\\' professional growth etc. The major projects where he has contributed or taken initiative include Carpet Designing for American Market with Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), Designing of Woolen Products for Woolmark Company, India, Developing short term programme in Computer Aided Design for National centre for Design and Product Development (NCDPD), BOI project, uniform design project from Ministry of Home Affair, India, UKIERI, students and faculty exchange programme, UK.
Rachna Imam
Rachna Imam has over 16 years of association with the Apparel Industry. Graduated in Fashion Design from NIFT , New Delhi 1991-94 . Worked with Intercraft and Louis Feraud as a designer. Has been a consultant designer with Sasakawa India (a NGO that works for the upliftment of the leapers and is funded by Nippon of Japan). Was a Head Merchandiser(all India) with Tarun Tahiliani. Has been a faculty with IAM (Institute of Apparel Management under the ministry of Textiles). Presently working with the Pearl Academy of Fashion,New Delhi as a Fashion Design Faculty.
Ramnik Dhillon
Ms. Ramnik Dhillon is a Visiting Professor in the Fashion Design Department of Pearl Academy of Fashion since 1993. She has a masters degree in Clothing and Textiles and is a Home science honours graduate and Gold medalist from DelhiUniversity. She has a rich twenty one years of teaching experience. She specializes in Pattern Making, Grading and Construction of Women's wear, Men's wear and kids wear in casual, formal, sportswear and evening wear categories. She has written a book "Basics of Garment Construction" for IGNOU distance education programme. She has been involved with mentoring and training faculty at all centres of PAF. She has also worked as a Freelance Pattern Maker for some designers.
Salju Jose
Salju Jose joined the design department of PAF in January 2009 with over 23 years experience in the couture fashion industry. As the founder and proprietor of Faerie, (1986) a fashion design studio based in (Trivandrum) Kerala, she is a pioneering fashion entrepreneur with strong technical and business foundations. At Faerie, she has designed and created wedding gowns, casual wear and formal wear. Her expertise is firmly grounded in her perfectionism and attention to detail. Her early experience includes working with Ferguson & Rippins of Scotland dealing with women's outer wear, and also with Frank Usher & Co creating exclusive women's party wear. Through Faerie she has taken under her wing and trained many women, empowering them to be self-employed. As part of a voluntary program, she also taught clothing technology to deaf and mute students.
Sarita Karandikar
From the second batch of NIFT, Sarita Karandikar has accumulated a gamut of experiences in the last 20 years. She transitioned from being a womens wear designer to designing books & costumes for Childrens theatre. Sarita currently heads the Fashion Styling and Image design programme as a course leader as she continues to teach in the fashion design and styling modules. To add value to her academic qualification, she has trained as a stylist from the 'London College of Fashion' UK. Sarita, teaches Elements of design & fashion aesthetics, Women's Evening wear and fundamentals of fashion styling.
Savita Sharma
Savita Sharma is Course Leader of Fashion & Media Makeup at Pearl Academy of Fashion. She holds a Master of Science (Library Science) from Syracuse University, USA and has trained in Fashion Resource Development and Management at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York, advance Knitwear Design at NottinghamTrentUniversity, (NTU) and attended a workshop in Makeup Artistry at London College of Fashion (LCF), UK. She was instrumental in designing and setting up a Resource Centre of international standards at NIFT, New Delhi at its inception and guided and coordinated the setting up of Resource Centres of the NIFTs at Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Gandhinagar. She established and designed the curricula of the Knitwear Design & Technology Departments at NIFT, New Delhi and Mumbai. At NIFT she initiated the NIFT / AEPC fashion forecast programme for the garment industry. At PAF she has worked on jute products diversification project in which she introduced hand knitting and crochet techniques for producing jute lifestyle products. She has been running her own international information consultancy for the past twenty-five plus years.
Seema Singh
Seema Singh is a visiting faculty in the Design Department at Pearl Academy of Fashion. A graduate in economics from the Delhi University, with a professional qualification from Pearl Academy of Fashion Delhi, she also has a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from Nottingham Trent University and a PG Certificate in Human Resource Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur. She has worked with various domestic retail houses of Indian wear. She has also worked as a designer in labels such as Tarun Tahiliani and Ashima and Leena. She has behind her, freelancing experience with buying houses for range development. For the past seven years, she has been working in the education field. She has conducted various workshops for companies like Dastkaar, ITC Wills and NCDPD, and Woolmark.
